Dole salad alert

September
18

Watch out for Dole bagged salad mix. The company is recalling some of its salad products after the mix was found to contain E. coli, a potentially deadly bacteria that originates in cow’s intestines.

More than 4,530 bags of the suspect salad were shipped to grocery stores around the nation, including New York.

The recall includes all packages of Hearts Delight sold in the United States and Canada with a “best if used by” date of September 19 and a production code of “A24924A” or “A24924B,” the company said.

Last year, an E. coli outbreak traced to bagged baby spinach sold under the Dole brand was blamed for the deaths of three people and for sickening hundreds more across the U.S.

Investigators traced the source of the contamination to a central California cattle ranch next to spinach fields belonging to one of Dole’s suppliers.
