About 40,000 patients at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center may have had personal information like names, phone numbers and Social Security numbers stolen, the hospital announced in a written statement this afternoon.
Patients of the hospital’s branch in White Plains are not among those they suspect are affected by the theft. The hospital is currently undergoing a federal investigation and an internal audit into the situation. Hospital officials do not believe patients’ medical records were stolen. Patients impacted by the security breach will be informed through the mail.
