Thirty-nine people who were at a clinic at the Dr. Robert L. Yeager Health Center in Ramapo earlier this month may have been exposed to chicken pox, according to county officials. A staff member who worked at the outpatient mental health clinic in Building F has been diagnosed with the disease, according to Mary Ann Walsh-Tozer, Rockland Commissioner of Mental Health.
The employee was contagious on July 8 and during the morning of July 9, she said. Letter were mailed Thursday to people who visited the clinic during that time advising them to contact a doctor to see if they are in danger of getting the highly infectious disease. The county is required to ask all employees who work in the healthcare area if they had the disease or if they were immunized against it. The county does not require proof in the form of a blood test from people who say that they had the disease, Walsh-Tozer said.
