Autism fundraiser

Families affected by autism will hold a fundraising walk-a-thon Saturday at the Anthony Wayne Recreation Center in Harriman State park. Organizers expect thousands to attend the event, which will include a a 2 to 3 mile walk and Community Resource fair with educational sources, therapists, schools, recreational organizations, and child-friendly activities.
All proceeds from the event will benefit Autism Speaks, an advocacy organization for people with autism, a brain disorder that inhibits a person’s ability to communicate and develop social relationships.
Check in is at 9 a.m. with opening ceremonies at 10:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 11 a.m.
