Are your peanut butter crackers safe to eat? Here’s an easy way to find out if foods you have containing peanut butter are on the list of foods being recalled because they might be contaminated.
The “Food and Drug Administration”:http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/peanutbutterrecall/index.cfm has a database of foods that might contain peanut butter or peanut paste that has been linked to an outbreak of salmonella.
Nearly 500 people nationwide, including 17 in New york, have been sickened in the outbreak.

The list is growing. But many of these are just in case and of the recalled items none have come back as contaminated. This is all just precaution.
Remember the tomato scare. ended very quietly huh. i wonder why?
this is mostly panic. In My humble opinion.
I bought a batch of Mother’s “Cookies: Chocolate Peanut Butter Creme” to give out to co-workers… but in light of these recalls, I wonder if I should give them out at all? Mothers went out of business in October of last year and this batch won’t expire until March of this year (2009). I couldn’t find any information on it. What are your thoughts?
I guess it depends on how much you like your co-workers! Or, as the old saying goes, “When in doubt throw it out.”
