Rehabilitation patients from greater New York, including one from Nanuet and one from Tarrytown, were honored by Helen Hayes Hospital for their efforts to regain functioning and independence after an injury or illness.
The state-run rehabilitation center in West Haverstraw hosted its 113th annual Honors Assembly to recognizes patients who have made outstanding progress in their physical rehabilitation programs over the past year.
All award recipients demonstrated determination, strength, hard work and courage in the face of challenging circumstances and obstacles.
The following people were honored at a ceremony Tuesday at the hospital:
HHH Spirit of Achievement Award, Daniel Wolven, Kingston, N.Y.
Helen Hayes MacArthur Rose Award, Thomas Ervolina, Poughquag, N.Y.
Rockland County Independent Living Center Award, Ella Hill, Nanuet.
