The Wartburg Center in Mount Vernon will mark the opening Tuesday of its $31 million facility for rehabilitation services and adult day care program.
The rehabilitation facility is designed for recuperating stroke, heart and surgery patients. It is broken down into four “neighborhoods,” each with private bedrooms and a common lounge area, dining space and country kitchen. There are physical, occupational and speech therapy suites, and a real-life training apartment to help patients re-learn functional living skills before going home.
The new adult day care center offers both a medical and social model of care and is open 7 days a week. Services available include: on-site psychological, podiatry and pain management services; dementia-specific care; an arts program, spiritual care, live entertainment, community trips, and personal grooming services, including a whirlpool bath and beauty salon.
