Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern and one of the area’s largest health insurance companies, UnitedHealthCare, have agreed to extend their contract until Jan. 31.
The contract had been set to expire Tuesday night. The two sides have been negotiating for six month and will continue to try to work out a deal.
“We are continuing to work through the details of the contract and this extension will allow us time to reach a final agreement,” Bon Secours Charity Health System CEO Dr. Mary Leahy said in a statement. “We fully expect to remain within the UHC network.”
The month long extension will allow residents to use the hospitals and physician groups owned by Bon Secours, Good Samaritan’s parent company, including Bon Secours Medical Group, St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick and Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, N.Y.
