If you want to avoid a cesarean section, you might want to head to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern.
A new study by Consumer Reports of C-section rates shows that the Rockland hospital has among the best record in the state for avoiding surgical births. The hospital ranked number six in New York for avoiding a cesarean.
But plenty of local hospitals scored in the “worse” category, meaning women giving birth there have a higher chance of having surgery. They include: Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville; Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco; Montefiore New Rochelle; St. John’s Hospital in Yonkers, Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla and White Plains Hospital.
